Last weekend, the spirit of service, scholarship, and sisterhood was alive and thriving at Skylinks in Long Beach, where the Blue Haven Foundation, in partnership with the Inglewood Zetas (Omicron Rho Zeta Chapter), proudly awarded $24,000 in scholarships to eight remarkable young women pursuing higher education across the country — a 20% increase from 2024 and a 200% increase since 2023 — underscoring our unwavering dedication to higher education and youth development.
Rooted in our shared mission of education, empowerment, and equity, this annual scholarship celebration is more than just a ceremony — it is a testament to the transformative power of investing in our future leaders. With the cost of college continuing to rise, these scholarships are critical tools in removing financial barriers and opening doors to new possibilities.
Honoring the Class of 2025 Scholars
This year’s recipients are an inspiring mix of college-bound students and those continuing their educational journeys. We are proud to introduce our 2025 Blue Haven Foundation Scholars, representing three HBCUs and five PWIs:
Deyla Davis (Howard University)
Jazmin Medina (California State University, Long Beach)
Ashley Carlos (University of California, Davis)
Heaven Horne (University of Houston)
Kamren Miller (San Jose State University)
Kaxoriyah Bell (Howard University)
Nora Cooper (Loyola Marymount University)
Micah Fleming (Spelman College)
These young women represent the bright future of academia, leadership, and community impact.
A Community United in Purpose
The event brought together a vibrant network of community leaders, working professionals, and academic supporters, including representatives from institutions such as UCLA, USC, CSULB, CSUN, CSUDH, CSULA, SDSU, Loyola Marymount, and several HBCUs and PWIs across the country. Family and friends of the scholars were also in attendance, creating a powerful intergenerational celebration of purpose and promise.
Special guests included Inglewood Councilwoman Dionne Faulk (District 4) and saxophonist Ronald L. Goodman, whose presence reminded us of the intersection of civic leadership and cultural expression.
Honoring Excellence and Raising the Bar
The Inglewood Zetas also recognized two of their own with well-deserved honors: Zeta of the Year and the Unsung Dove Award, celebrating outstanding service, dedication, and quiet leadership within the chapter.
In the spirit of sustainability and continued impact, the event also featured a hybrid silent auction (in-person and online) with all proceeds benefiting the Blue Haven Foundation's year-round scholarship and youth programming efforts. QR codes displayed throughout the venue made giving easy and interactive, while an impressive collection of souvenir journal ads helped raise additional funds.

Together, we are investing in brighter futures.
