Annual Scholarship & Awards Brunch celebrates academic excellence, scholars, and community impact across Greater Los Angeles

INGLEWOOD, CA, June 9, 2026 — Omicron Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, also known as the Inglewood Zetas, and Blue Haven Foundation (BHF) awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 10 outstanding young women from across Greater Los Angeles during the 2026 Scholarship & Awards Brunch on June 7 at Skylinks at Long Beach.

This year’s high school scholarship recipients will attend leading institutions including Spelman College, Pepperdine University, California State University, Fullerton, and California State University, Los Angeles.

Scholarship awards include:

  • $21,500 distributed among six (6) Five Pearl Scholars transitioning from high school to four-year universities

  • $13,500 distributed among four (4) Finer Pearl Scholars continuing their education at four-year institutions after previously receiving Five Pearl Scholarships

The event theme, “Finer Futures: Rooted in Legacy, Rising in Excellence,” honors the enduring impact of scholarship, service, and leadership while empowering the next generation to pursue excellence with confidence and purpose.

“Finer Futures represents the powerful intersection of heritage and ambition,” organizers said in a joint statement. “Our scholarship recipients embody this vision. They are grounded in values, driven by purpose, and prepared to lead.”

The Inglewood Zetas and Blue Haven Foundation awarded $8,000 in 2023, $20,000 in scholarships in 2024 and more than $24,000 in 2025. This year’s expanded investment reflects the organizations’ continued commitment to educational access and long-term community impact.

Additional support in 2026 comes from Inglewood Zetas’ auxiliary group Zeta Amicae of Inglewood, which distributed one (1) $500 book scholarship to a graduating senior pursuing her education at a two-year college and/or trade school.

The brunch also honored Dr. Letitia T. Bradley with the Extraordinary Zeta of the Year Award for her leadership as the 18th Southern California State Director of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and her dedication to education, scholarship, and mentorship. One inaugural award – Blue Haven Foundation Undergraduate Scholar of the Year – and $500 cash offering was presented to Brooklynn Carter, a student at Loyola Marymount University, recognized for her academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service.

The Scholarship & Awards Brunch included fundraising efforts led by Blue Haven Foundation through a silent auction and live donation appeals to support future scholarship initiatives.

Undergraduate scholarship recipients were selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, essays, personal statements, recommendations, interviews, and overall presentation. Organizers said recipients distinguished themselves through exceptional discipline, ambition, and community involvement.

“A partnership driven by shared vision. Funding Today’s Scholars. Building Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

For the past four years, the partnership between Blue Haven Foundation and the Inglewood Zetas has expanded opportunities for young women pursuing or continuing their academic journeys.
